Harbertonford is a great place to stay for exploring Devon and South Hams. The market town of Totnes with its excellent shops, restaurants, cafes and markets is less than 10 minutes drive. Dartington Hall and Schumacher cottage are just a couple of minutes further on. Dartmouth and Dittisham, a great spot for sailing, crabbing, boat trips or visiting Agatha Christie's house Greenways are a few minutes drive. Many of South Devon's best beaches, such as the award winning Blackpool sands and Beesands are also within a short drive. The open moorland of Dartmoor is also within easy reach.
The cottage was until recently lived in by the owner and has been refurbished to a high standard. The house is tastefully furnished. From the bright entrance hall you reach the spacious sitting room with two large comfortable sofas, old wooden furniture, a fireplace and a stove. Or go down a step to reach the spacious and well-fitted kitchen. This cottage is ideal for a family of four or two couples. Or outside the high season when the crowds have gone and the rates go down it's also perfect for two people.
The village has an exceptionally good village post office which also sells a vast range of food and drink including locally grown produce. And the local pub, the Maltsters Arms is just two minutes walk from the house. Two of Devon's finest pubs (see our pub guide) - the Ferry Boat Inn at Dittisham and the Maltsters Arms at Tuckhenhay are just a short drive.
